FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions - Furano Melon Picking Experience
Q: Which farms do you visit?
Depending on the situation, you'll visit one of two historic farms with over 120 years of history: Farm Okudaira or Oishi Farm. The specific farm will be determined based on melon harvest conditions and availability.
Q: What is Farm Okudaira like?
Farm Okudaira is located in the Senzan district, where the first pioneer settlement team led by Nakamura Chikan first broke ground in Furano's pioneering history. Now run by the 4th and 5th generation farmers, they have been cultivating this land for over 120 years, producing Furano melons, asparagus, corn, onions, sugar beets, and many other agricultural products.
Q: What about Oishi Farm?
Oishi Farm operates in the Yamabe district, known for its thriving melon cultivation in Furano. The original settlers came from Akita Prefecture, and now the 5th generation continues to lead agriculture in the Yamabe area. Besides Furano melons, they grow rare rice varieties like "Yukisayaka" and delicious pumpkins too!
