Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What are snow-buried vegetables?

Snow-buried vegetables are those stored and overwintered under snow. The snow acts as a natural refrigerator, and the vegetables increase their sugar content to prevent freezing, becoming surprisingly sweet. These are natural blessings created by Hokkaido's harsh winter environment.

2. Can children participate?

Children aged 6 and above are welcome to join. If you wish for preschool children to participate, please consult with us in advance. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

3. I'm worried about the cold. How cold is it?

Winter in Furano can reach temperatures of -10°C to -20°C. Please wear proper cold-weather clothing such as ski wear. Since you'll be moving your body during the experience, it tends to feel less cold than you might expect.

Please prepare your own basic cold-weather clothing and snow boots in advance whenever possible. Rental items such as winter boots may not be available in your specified size. Preparing your own clothing is the best measure for cold protection.

Inside the dinner tent, we heat the space with a wood-burning stove, keeping it warm. During dinner time, you'll warm up with hot oden and alcohol.

4. Will the tour be held even if it's snowing?

The tour will proceed under normal snowfall conditions. However, in cases of blizzards or dangerous weather conditions, it may be cancelled. If cancellation is necessary, we will contact you the day before or on the morning of the tour. No cancellation fee will be charged.

5. How far in advance do I need to make a reservation?

We request reservations at least 7 days in advance. However, if spaces are available, we may be able to accommodate last-minute bookings, so please inquire.

6. Is there a cancellation fee?

  • Up to 3 days before the experience date: Free
  • 3 days before: 50% of the fee
  • 2 days before to the day of: 100% of the fee
  • Due to food preparation arrangements, we charge the above cancellation fees. Thank you for your understanding.

No cancellation fee will be charged in cases of cancellation due to bad weather, or if you cannot arrive in Furano due to flight delays/cancellations or other public transportation issues caused by weather, or if rescheduling cannot be arranged for these reasons. Please contact us as soon as possible if any such situations arise.

7. Can I take home the cabbage I harvest?

A portion of the cabbage harvested during the experience is for tasting purposes. If you wish to purchase additional cabbage, please consult with the farmer on the day of the tour.

8. Is English support available?

Basic English guidance is available. Please let us know when making your reservation.
